Wedding Ceremonies

  1. The Right Ceremony Music for Your Wedding

Ceremony music is a powerful personal ingredient of your wedding ceremony. As a versatile, experienced, and dependable professional pianist, I ensure that your music will reflect your individual style as a couple on this important day.

My elegant and surprisingly eclectic piano repertoire spans vintage classics to contemporary hits, including standards from the 1930’s and 40’s, as well as great songs by artists from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today. You may prefer George Gershwin and Cole Porter or the Beatles, Coldplay and Elton John. There's so much terrific music to choose from in creating a joyous mood.

Wedding couples have appreciated my ability to provide engaging, pleasing and unique music that not only serves the functional needs of their ceremony but which also reflects their personalities. I work with you to find the right selections for your prelude, processional and recessional so that the music for every aspect of the ceremony faithfully represents your tastes by including the songs you want to hear.

  3. What's the Difference Between a Prelude, a Processional and a Recessional?
Wedding ceremonies are comprised of distinct phases and the music you select is vital...(click to read more) setting the mood for what is taking place at each point in the process.

The prelude is the music I'll play as guests are first arriving and it can reflect your tastes in music, while setting the mood for the entire event to come. ‘Standards’ are always pleasant and stylish, as there are so many great melodies that elegantly express love and joy. Many couples request that I include music by the Beatles, Elton John, Coldplay and U2 as part of their prelude music.

The processional is typically a stately piece of music played while the bride makes her way down the aisle to the altar. It is usually a dignified piece with a moderate tempo to help give her a graceful, unhurried pace. Pachelbel’s "Canon in D" is one example of a popular choice for processionals, though couples often wish to choose a personally meaningful piece of music, which can be classical, pop or even a mellow rock song. Processional music I've recently played have included "Fields of Gold," "In Your Eyes" Bach's "Air on the G String" and the Trumpet Voluntary.

The recessional is simply a celebratory piece played right after your officiate presents you as husband and wife for the first time, which cues your guests that it's time to applaud and cheer as you walk past them back down the aisle. You decide what sort of closing you'd like for your ceremony. This is a great chance to have a good time and express yourselves musically. There are numerous options, from classical pieces and upbeat standards to rousing rock anthems. Recent choices some of my wedding couples have made for their recessionals have been “Linus and Lucy” (Vince Guaraldi), “Viva la Vida” (Coldplay), “All You Need is Love” (The Beatles), “Love is Here to Stay” (Gershwin), and “Ode to Joy” (Beethoven). We'll wrap up the ceremony portion of your wedding with your hand-picked recessional, setting the stage for a fantastic Wedding Reception.

My wedding was on June 20th and Michael performed my ceremony music. EVERYONE commented on how beautiful the music was. I requested "the River Flows in You" by Yiruma two weeks before my wedding. He did not know this piece, but learned it. AMAZING! He played it perfectly. I can't express how much I thank him for that.
I was strongly recommend to anyone to use Michael for a wedding or any event you have.
