Bio / Gigs

Pianist Michael Udelson grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. As a teenager, Michael studied classical music with Ylda Novik. As a music major at Oberlin College, Michael began studying jazz. After his first summer gig, Michael headed west In search of adventure, ending up in San Francisco. In 1994, Michael and acoustic bassist Pat Klobas began entertaining in the Redwood Room, where they performed for six years. In addition to playing standards, show tunes and jazz, they expanded upon the traditional lounge repertoire to include material by artists such as Santana, Pink Floyd, and the Stones. In 2000, Udelson and Klobas released their c.d. entitled "Standard Deviation".

In 2001, Michael became house pianist at the Four Seasons Hotel, where he entertained nightly from 2001-2009. Memorable evenings of Michael’s career include when guests Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and Chuck Leavell (pianist for the Rolling Stones) joined him on the gig to play tunes.
